Rev. Dr. Clifton Urquhart

Rev. Dr. Clifton Urquhart

Rev. Dr. Clifton Urquhart was born on August 6, 1973, in Baltimore, Maryland, to proud parents Clifton Urquhart, Sr. and Mae Francine Jackson. He is the eldest of eight children, with four brothers and three sisters.

Dr. Urquhart received his early education through the Baltimore County Public School System and is a graduate of Woodlawn High School. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Sojourner-Douglass College in 2013. With a continued desire to deepen his faith and leadership, he attended Virginia Union University’s Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology, where he earned his Master of Divinity in 2016. His pursuit of excellence in ministry did not stop there he later matriculated at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C., where he earned a Doctor of Ministry in Church Leadership in 2022.

Dr. Urquhart accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on Father’s Day, June 2003. He acknowledged his call to preach the Gospel and delivered his initial sermon on December 16, 2009, at Southern Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Donte Hickman.

While completing his seminary training at Virginia Union University, Dr. Urquhart interned at Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Reginald Thomas. He officially joined the congregation in 2014 and served as an Associate Minister until God called him to his next divine assignment. On August 4, 2019, Dr. Urquhart was elected as the seventh Pastor of Fulton Baptist Church. He was ordained at Greater Gethsemane on September 29, 2019, and began his pastoral ministry at Fulton on October 1, 2019.

A devoted husband, father, and servant leader, Dr. Urquhart is passionate about strengthening families and transforming communities through faith, compassion, and service. His ministry emphasizes teaching and preaching salvation, walking in humility, and living under the grace of God.

At Fulton Baptist Church, Dr. Urquhart has been guiding the congregation through the theme “The Power of COMmUnity,” inspired by John 13:33–35 (NIRV): “I give you a new command—love one another. You must love one another, just as I have loved you. If you love one another, everyone will know you are my disciples.”

Under his visionary leadership, the church declared 2020 as “The Year of Elevation,” focusing on growing higher in Christ, strengthening faith in community development, and renewing commitment to service. Through his direction, Fulton Baptist has seen significant progress, including sanctuary renovations, new office spaces, a new podium, dual projection screens, and a state-of-the-art sound system funded by a generous $14,000 donation. Most importantly, the ministry has witnessed lives transformed—before the pandemic, at least one person gave their life to Christ each Sunday.

Dr. Urquhart is married to the former Glynnis T. Cook, and together they are blessed with six beautiful children: Keon, Ciairah, Clifton Terrell, Caleigh, Cami, and Chloe.

When asked about his greatest accomplishment, Dr. Urquhart humbly responds that it is being a devoted husband and father. His favorite scripture, which anchors both his life and ministry, is Galatians 2:20 (NKJV): “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
