Rev. Dr. Clifton Urquhart was born August 6, 1973, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the proud parents Clifton Urquhart, Sr. and Mae Francine Jackson. He is the oldest child with six brothers and four sisters.
Reverend Urquhart received his formal education in the Baltimore County Public Schools and is a graduate of Woodlawn High School. He furthered his education at Sojourner Douglas College, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration. Reverend Urquhart continued his studies at Virginia Union University and received a Master of Divinity Degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology in 2016. Reverend Urquhart still has a thirst for additional knowledge; therefore, he has matriculated at the Wesley Theological Seminary, Washington, D.C., where he earned his Doctor of Ministry Degree in Church Leadership.
Reverend Urquhart accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on Father’s Day, June 2003. Reverend Urquhart accepted his call to preach and preached his initial sermon on December 16, 2009, at Southern Baptist Church under the leadership of Bishop Donte Hickman. From 2009 – 2010, he served as Youth and Young Adult Minister; 2010 – 2012, as the Executive Minister. During his tenure at Virginia Union University, in 2014, Reverend Urquhart had to intern at a church to shadow the pastor, and God sent him to Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Reginald Thomas. A month later, he joined Greater. He began his internship and served as an Associate Minister from 2014 until God called him to Fulton Baptist Church to serve as the seventh pastor on August 4, 2019. He was ordained at Greater Gethsemane on September 29, 2019 and began his divine assignment at Fulton Baptist Church on October 1, 2019.
In 2016 Reverend Urquhart launched the EMB Foundation in honor of his grandmother, Ebbie Mae Boyd, who went home to be with the Lord on December 8, 2012. The EMB Foundation is a resource for families who require assistance. The mission is to restore families by repairing relationships and by rescuing children. He serves as the Executive Director.
Reverend Urquhart is a family-oriented man. He is also a community-based man and is desirous of bringing change to the community. Reverend Urquhart is influencing change and bringing hope to those who come in contact with him. Reverend Urquhart has a passion for teaching and preaching salvation, walking in humility, and operating under the grace of our Father in Heaven. He is humble and about his Father’s business. He has begun guiding and teaching the congregation of Fulton Baptist Church about “The Power of COMmUnity,” using the guiding scripture from John 13:33-35(NIRV): “My children, I will be with you only a little longer. you will look for me. Just as I told the Jews, so I am telling you now. You can’t come where I am going.
“I give you a new command—love one another. You must love one another, just as I have loved you. If you love one another, everyone will know you are my disciples.”
Since becoming Pastor of Fulton Baptist Church, Reverend Urquhart has deemed 2020 as “The Year of Elevation” where God’s calling is to go higher in Christ, our faith in community development, and our faith in contributing. The goal is to restore the people and redevelop the community by strengthening our faith in Christ. 2020 is our season of elevation. Under Reverend Urquhart’s leadership, we have been able to accomplish projects: such as the restructuring of the building, including offices, a new podium, and two (2) new screens for the sanctuary. We were blessed to have received a $14,000 donation by a faithful family given to update the sound system. God has done some remarkable things in the brief time Reverend Urquhart has been at Fulton. The goal is to build a community one person at a time. Since becoming Pastor at Fulton, until the pandemic, at least one person gave their life to Christ each Sunday.
Reverend Urquhart is married to the former Glynnis T. Cook, and together God has blessed them with a beautiful family. If you ask Reverend Urquhart what his greatest accomplishment is, he will tell you that being the father to six (6) beautiful children; Keon, Ciairah, Clifton Terrell, Caleigh, Cami, and Chloe.
Reverend Urquhart’s favorite scripture is Galatians 2:20(NKIV); “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me
